I am Sandy Haviland, Vice President of Business Development for Myca. My role is to secure strategic relationships for Myca, both to finance the company’s expansion, and to partner with companies that enhance Myca’s position in the marketplace.
I bring to Myca fifteen years of investment banking and investment advisory experience, plus a special affinity for people whose creative vision will improve on the status quo.
Last year, when I met Nat Findlay and learned what Myca is doing, I was struck by two things.
First, as a frustrated consumer of the US healthcare system, I was excited by the idea that my family would be able to connect with healthcare providers using the same communications technology that we use to make our other daily interactions easy and efficient.ÝMyca is a powerful improvement over the cumbersome system that we have all gotten used to, and consumers like me are in dire need of a new and better system.
Second, as a finance professional, I was enticed because the healthcare industry is so enormous, the existing system so wasteful, and Myca’s approach so innovative, that the company’s business opportunity seems as large as it is needed. The key elements of an experienced entrepreneurial team plus an efficient and scalable business model give Myca a base for creating extraordinary shareholder value.
I have had the privilege of working with a number of visionary and innovative companies in a various industries throughout my investment banking career, and Myca sets a new high. Maybe it is my undergraduate degree in Philosophy (Yale) that causes me to enjoy working on such a sweeping change. Maybe my MBA (Kellogg) predisposes me to like companies that are breaking new ground. Regardless the cause of my attachment, Myca is already making a name for itself as a leader in the space, and I feel privileged to be part of the team.
