Director of Quality Assurance |
When did you join Myca Health? In September 2009. What was the opportunity/challenge that appealed to you most? The opportunity to achieve customer satisfaction efficiently. Building software should be fun, using it should be awesome. The challenge for me is to find the sweet spot between a cumbersome, heavy, inefficient quality system and a chaotic work environment. What particular leadership skills do you use every day? My communication skills. I’m a fan of Marshall Rosenberg who developed “Nonviolent communication.” I’m not satisfied until I know that I’ve understood the real needs of others and that they have understood my demands. What past experience best prepared you for your role at Myca Health? When I was in the Canadian Forces, I had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills in challenging situations. And, being a Quality Manager at Cardinal Health is where I learned formal and FDA processes. Finish this sentence: I know I’ll have met my own expectations here when _________? I get a WOW from everyone in contact with Myca – employees and customers. A Tuesday afternoon meeting is cancelled at the last minute. How do you spend the unexpectedly free time? Talk with my team, get to know them more. I like to learn and understand what motivates my employees, at work and at home. Richard Branson once said: “I’m not in the airline business. I’m in the business of entertainment at 32,000 feet.” Can you redefine what Myca does in a similar way? We are not in the software business; we are in the business of connecting patients and doctors together to improve their lives. Favorite movie of all time and why. Dances with Wolves. It’s about a soldier who organizes his life and survives alone. He learned to love his enemies, simply by paying attention to others. |
